At Kelby GSD we have some sensational sables.
Sable is the original German Shepherd color. It is becoming more popular in this country, as it has
in Germany since the beginning of the breeds existence. Back in the days of our breeds development, most of the
dogs were sable. In Germany this color is often referred to as "grey". Sable is the dominant color in the genetic
mix, and comes in many shades. Unlike black and tan color patterns, sable does not have a distinct saddle over the back
of the dog. If a dog is a Gold Sable, he is gold in color, and has black flecked throughout his body. He may or
may not have stripes on his toes, and black muzzle and "eye liner". A sable pup is born the color he is, with a black
stripe down his back. That black stripe begins to spread down his sides and he gets darker as he gets matures.
A sable dog can come in shades of gold, silver, grey, red, black, and dark brown. At our kennels we have some
of the finest sables to be had. Our sable bloodlines produce our largest dogs, and their classic appearance appeals
to many. Jem, Secret, and Carizma are our sable mothers.
